European Union in Lebanon
EU Ambassadors visited South Lebanon today to reaffirm their support to all aspects of UNIFIL-PIO’s work. Its deployment alongside the Lebanese Army - الجيش اللبناني is crucial to maintaining stability in southern Lebanon and along the Lebanese shores.
We commend the ongoing works to establish a new Headquarters for the LAF Model Regiment, to which the EU has contributed funding, as a commitment of the Lebanese State to consolidate its authority and control the security of South Lebanon.
The EU and its Member States are committed to the unity, sovereignty, stability, independence and territorial integrity of Lebanon. We continue to stress the importance of Lebanon's commitment to the full implementation of its international obligations, including UNSCR 1701.
